Meta Ads history

The History tab stores your daily ad spend by day, campaign and ad set. Unlike Manage, which shows live data from Meta, History holds stored data, older days stay until you fetch them, and you can filter out campaigns.

Where to find it: Sidebar › Meta Ads › History tab Who can do it: Anyone who can open the History tab (the page.meta_historical permission, or the owner). Fetching and deleting need meta.sync.

The History tab layout

The History tab shows a table with toolbar and footer. The toolbar has a date range picker (default last 7 days, with presets), a Campaigns button with a count badge (showing how many campaigns are left out), and a Fetch data button on the right.

The table columns are Day · campaign · ad set, Share (desktop only: a bar showing that day's value relative to the largest), Spend, and a menu (right-click or touch-and-hold).

Rows are one per calendar day in your chosen range, oldest day first. Click a day to expand it and see its campaigns; click a campaign to expand it and see its ad sets. Under a date row it shows "{n} campaign(s)" and " · {m} excluded" if you've left some out; or "Not fetched yet" if that day has no stored data, with a Fetch button in the Spend cell.

Campaign rows show "{n} ad set(s)", " · not counted" if excluded, "{pct}% of the day" (how much of that day's spend this campaign is), and the amount.

The footer shows "{amount} spent", "{x} of {y} day(s) fetched" (how many days you've pulled data for), and on the right "{n} campaign(s) left out of the total" or "Every campaign counted".

Fetch ad spend for past days

To see older ad spend, press the Fetch data button (top right). It's disabled if your date range is longer than 7 days. Choose a range of up to 7 days and tap Fetch data. The wizard asks Meta for that period's spend and stores it. Toast: Data Synced — "Successfully synced {n} records from Meta API." If it fails, you'll see Sync Failed with the reason.

To fetch a single day, click the Fetch button in that day's Spend cell. Toast: Data Synced — "Successfully fetched data for {MMM d, yyyy}."

Days and campaigns with zero spend are not stored, so a day with no spend always shows "Not fetched yet" until you manually fetch it again.

Every day at 01:30 UTC (07:30 Dhaka time), the platform automatically fetches yesterday's spend and updates the ad structure (changes in the last 7 days). Today's spend appears in History only after the next day's automatic fetch, or when you fetch it yourself.

Fetching needs the meta.sync permission.

Leave out or delete a campaign from History

Leave out campaigns for this session — Press the Campaigns button (top, with a count badge). A Campaign filters modal opens: "Untick campaigns to leave them out of the history numbers. Changes apply straight away." Search or scroll through your campaigns. Untick any you want to hide from the totals (they show dimmed and count as "excluded"). The untick is kept only in this browser tab's session; when the tab closes or you refresh, all campaigns count again. The choice does not affect Reports.

Delete campaign data permanently — Open the campaign's menu (row right-click or touch-and-hold) and choose Delete campaign data. Confirm "Delete campaign data?" — "This will permanently remove all stored Meta spend rows for {name}. You can re-sync the date range later if needed." It deletes that campaign's stored rows for all dates, not just the range on screen. Toast: "Campaign data deleted" — "{name} was removed from {n} stored row(s)."

Alternatively, in the Campaign filters modal, untick the campaigns you want gone and press Delete unticked data. It removes every left-out campaign the same way. Toasts: "Nothing to delete" — "There are no unselected campaigns in this range." / "Unselected campaigns deleted" — "Removed {n} campaign(s) and {m} stored row(s)."

Deleting needs meta.sync. Because Reports read the stored spend, deleting it lowers ad spend and raises profit in Reports until you re-fetch the data.

Questions people ask

Why is History different from Manage?

Manage shows live data from Meta right now. History stores your daily totals so you can see trends and use the data in Reports without calling Meta every time (which is slow). They might differ because Meta recalculates results for a few days after the fact, or because the data is from different times of day.

Do I have to fetch data for every day?

No. The platform fetches yesterday at 07:30 Dhaka time automatically. You only need to fetch if you want older data or if you want today's (partial) data right now.

Does leaving out a campaign in History change my Reports?

No. Leaving it out (unticking it) changes only the History total in this browser tab. Reports always use all your stored spend. If you permanently delete the campaign's data, that does affect Reports until you re-fetch.

Why does a day show "Not fetched yet"?

That day has no stored data. Tap the Fetch button next to it, or use Fetch data for a range including that day.
