AI in the designer

AI in the designer can rewrite section text, change layout and styling, describe the section you need and the system builds it, and check your page before you publish.

Where to find it: Floating pill at the bottom centre of the designer (bottom-left on mobile); or press Ctrl K / Cmd K

What it is

The floating Ask AI bar sits at the bottom centre of the designer preview. It listens to what you are looking at — a selected section, the theme settings, or the page as a whole — and shows a scope chip so you know what the AI is about to edit. You type a request in plain English or Bangla, press Enter, and the AI makes the changes live on the page. Every change arrives as a proposal you can keep or undo.

The AI cannot break your page — anything it changes appears in the preview first, nothing is saved until you press Save, and you can undo any AI change in one step, even after you close the designer.

Open the Ask AI bar

The floating pill with the Ask AI label and Ctrl K / Cmd K keyboard shortcut sits at the bottom centre of the preview area (floating above the canvas on desktop; pinned to the bottom of the preview on mobile).

Click the pill to expand it into a composer, or press Ctrl K / Cmd K from anywhere in the designer.

The composer opens with a textarea: "Ask about <scope>..." — whatever the scope is at that moment (a section's name, "Page", or "Theme").

Ask the AI to change a section

  1. Select the section you want to change in the outline or click it on the canvas.
  2. Open the Ask AI bar (the floating pill, or Ctrl/Cmd+K).
  3. The scope chip shows the section's label — e.g. "Editing Hero banner".
  4. Type what you want: "Make the text bigger", "Use the brand colours", "Rewrite the copy to be more friendly", "Add a button below the image".
  5. Press Enter or click the send button (arrow up icon).
  6. The AI works — the thread panel on the right shows "Working..." and the steps it is taking. You can close the panel but the work continues.
  7. When done, a proposal bar appears at the top of the editor: "Changed 3 things" and a list of what moved. A yellow checkmark ✦ on the outline shows which sections were edited.
  8. Keep the changes (they stay as unsaved edits) or Undo (revert in one step).
  9. Save manually as always — Save works after Keep just like any other edit.

Ask the AI to change a page

  1. Click somewhere on the canvas that is not a section — or collapse the sidebar so the page is active.
  2. Open the Ask AI bar.
  3. The scope chip shows "Editing Page" or the page name.
  4. Type: "Add a testimonial section", "Improve the hierarchy", "Add social proof", "Make it more trustworthy".
  5. Press Enter. The AI may add sections, rearrange them, or change the content.
  6. Review the proposal, Keep or Undo.
  7. Save when ready.

Change theme colours and typography with AI

  1. Click the paintbrush Theme settings toggle in the top bar (or the outline's "Theme settings" button).
  2. Open Ask AI.
  3. The scope shows "Editing Theme".
  4. Ask: "Warmer palette", "Use a serif font for headings", "More whitespace", "Bolder, darker colours".
  5. The theme tokens change — the preview updates to show the new colours and type everywhere at once.
  6. Keep or Undo, then Save.

Describe a section and let AI build it

If you need a section type the picker does not offer, you can describe it.

  1. In the outline, click + Add section at the bottom of the Home page or another template band.
  2. The section picker opens. At the very top, the search box changes to a Describe the section you need... placeholder and a sparkle icon appears.
  3. Type what you need: "A countdown timer showing how long the offer lasts", "Customer testimonial cards in a carousel", "A size-chart table".
  4. Press Enter. The AI searches the picker for a match. If one exists, a card shows "Finding a match..." then presents the preset — click Insert to use it.
  5. If no match exists, the AI offers to write a custom section: "Writing a custom section..." and creates one from scratch. Click Insert — the definition is saved, added to your Custom sections, and inserted on the page in one step.
  6. If the section cannot be inserted for some reason, the error tells you why.

This is the fastest way to add a section that does not exist — ask, and it appears.

Rewrite text in a section

Selected a section with text and want to rewrite it? Use inline rewrite.

  1. Select the section.
  2. In the inspector on the right, find a text field (like heading or description).
  3. Look for a sparkle ✦ icon next to the field label.
  4. Click the sparkle to open a menu: Rewrite, Shorten, To Bangla, To English.
  5. The AI generates up to 3 options. Click one to apply it — it becomes the field value.
  6. Try again or accept it. The change is unsaved until you hit Save.

This is faster than asking the full AI bar for a text change — three seconds instead of a full build.

Upload a screenshot or image

You can paste or upload a screenshot and ask the AI to match it.

  1. Open the Ask AI bar.
  2. Click the image icon (paperclip with a plus) or paste an image (Ctrl/Cmd+V) or drag-drop one into the composer.
  3. The image appears as a small thumbnail. You can attach up to 3 images per message.
  4. Type your question: "Make the page look like this", "Use this colour palette", "Redesign the header to match this".
  5. Press Enter. The AI sees the image and builds accordingly.

Images are PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, under 4 MB each.

Record a voice message

You can record a voice message in English or Bangla instead of typing.

  1. Open the Ask AI bar.
  2. Click the microphone button.
  3. The status line changes to "Recording · 0:07 — tap the mic to finish".
  4. Speak your request in English or Bangla — whatever is easier. The default language is Bangla.
  5. Tap the mic button again to stop. The AI transcribes it — "Transcribing..." — and inserts the text into the composer.
  6. Review the transcript (it may mishear some words), edit if needed, then press Enter to send.

If your browser does not support voice recording, the mic button shows a file picker instead — choose an audio file to transcribe.

Review a proposal

When the AI finishes making changes, a proposal bar appears:

  • A summary showing "Changed <n> things". Click a chip for any section to select it and jump to the inspector.
  • Keep — the changes stay as unsaved edits. You can make more changes, or Save to commit them.
  • Undo — revert all the changes in one step. You are back where you started, and you can ask again.

The thread panel (on the right) shows every message and change:

  • Your questions appear as speech bubbles.
  • AI responses show as markdown text + a list of the changes it made.
  • Applied changes show as receipts — "Applied: made the hero image 50% taller" — so you can see what landed.
  • Errors appear if something failed — try asking again.

The proposal stays open until you Keep or Undo. Nothing is saved until you hit the Save button in the top bar.

Save a reusable preset after an AI build

If the AI creates a section you love, you can save it as a preset so it appears in the picker for future use.

  1. While a proposal is showing (after the AI finishes), on the proposal bar or in the thread, look for a Save as preset... button (quiet text, next to Keep/Undo).
  2. The button appears only if the AI changed exactly one section.
  3. Click it. A popover asks for a name: "Preset name" — e.g. "Premium hero".
  4. Click Save preset. The definition is saved on your store under that section type, marked "Yours" in the picker.
  5. From then on, when you add that section type, your preset is at the top of the list.

Presets are store-only — they do not move to another store.

Check your page before publishing

A Check page button appears in the top right corner (a checkmark icon + a count badge, red if there are findings). The audit runs automatically when you try to publish, but you can run it anytime.

  1. Click the Check page button.
  2. A popover shows "Page check" and lists findings grouped by severity:
    • Fix before publishing — errors that block publishing (e.g. landing page with no order form, missing phone number).
    • Worth fixing — warnings (e.g. heading is too long, image missing alt text).
    • Minor — nice-to-haves (e.g. too many sections on the page).
  3. Click a finding that names a section to jump to it and see the problem highlighted in the inspector.
  4. Fix the issue, then Re-run to check again.
  5. When clean, the popover shows "Clean — no findings."

The same check runs when you hit Publish — high-severity findings must be fixed before you can publish. Worth-fixing and minor findings are warnings only; you can still publish.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Ctrl K / Cmd K — open or focus the Ask AI bar.
  • Enter — send a message (Shift+Enter is a newline).
  • Escape — close the bar, or close the thread and back to the bar.

Offline and conflicts

If you are offline, the Ask AI bar shows "You are offline — asks will send when you reconnect." It re-sends automatically when the connection returns.

If the page has an unresolved conflict (edited elsewhere), AI asks are blocked until you resolve the conflict. Save or publish first to clear it.

Questions people ask

Can the AI save changes without asking me?

No. The AI proposes changes, and every one arrives as a proposal you Keep or Undo. Nothing is written to the document until you hit Save in the top bar — and even then, you can undo the AI changes separately if you change your mind.

What if the AI gets it wrong?

Click Undo on the proposal bar. Everything reverts in one step, and you can ask again or fix it by hand.

Does the AI take a screenshot or read my content?

No. The AI works from the document structure — the sections, settings and content fields — not from the rendered page.

Can I ask about multiple sections at once?

Ask about the page, not individual sections. "Improve the hierarchy", "Make the testimonials section match the colours" — the AI understands and can edit multiple sections if needed.

Is there a limit to how many times I can ask?

No hard limit. Ask as much as you want. If a request times out or fails, try again.

Can I turn off AI for my team?

AI is on by default. Ask your Omnikyo team if you need to disable it.
