Set the dollar rate and tax for ad spend
Set what one US dollar costs you and whether to add tax to ad spend. These settings make the Dashboard and Reports show your real ad costs.
Where to find it: Sidebar › Settings › Ads and tracking › Facebook and Instagram › Ad spend tab Who can do it: Anyone with the Ads and tracking settings permission.
Before you start
You need:
- A connected Meta ad account (your Meta login or a pasted access token; set up in the Account tab first).
- What one US dollar costs you, from your bank or credit card statement (not the Google rate).
- Your VAT or tax rate on ad payments, if you have one.
The defaults are 123 taka per dollar and 12% tax (applied automatically); these are guesses. Use your real numbers so profit is accurate.
Set the ad account currency and dollar rate
- Open Settings (header, bottom left).
- Choose Ads and tracking › Facebook and Instagram.
- Select the Ad spend tab (if you have the integrations permission). The page shows How ad spend is counted.
- In Ad account currency, choose what Meta charges your account in:
- US dollar (the default) — if Meta bills you in dollars.
- Taka — if Meta bills you in taka. (You can skip the dollar rate if you choose this.)
- If you chose US dollar, enter the Dollar rate below it — what one US dollar costs you in taka. Use your bank statement: if you paid ৳25,000 for $200 USD, the rate is 125 per dollar.
- Click the Save button in the top right.
The Dashboard and Reports recalculate on the next refresh.
Add or adjust tax
Tax is for VAT, bank fees, payment processing charges or other costs that Meta adds to your bill.
- In the same Ad spend tab, toggle Add tax to ad spend on.
- Enter the Tax rate in percent (the field shows % on the right). Use your actual rate:
- Standard VAT in Bangladesh is 15%, but Meta may charge 12%.
- Add only charges that are not already included in your ad spend.
- Click Save.
Effect: Every ad spend figure on the Dashboard and in Reports now includes this tax. Net profit also subtracts the added tax, so profit is lower but correct.
Examples
USD to taka with tax
Your Meta account is in USD. Your bank rate is 125 taka per dollar. VAT on ads is 12%.
- Ad spend this month: $100
- In taka: 100 × 125 = ৳12,500
- With 12% tax: 12,500 × 1.12 = ৳14,000
If you set the dollar rate to 125 and tax rate to 12%, the Dashboard shows ৳14,000.
Taka account, no rate needed
Your Meta account is already in taka.
- Set Ad account currency to Taka.
- The Dollar rate field disappears.
- Set the tax rate if you have one (for example, 15% for VAT).
The Dashboard shows your taka spend directly, adjusted for tax.
What changes on the Dashboard and Reports
When you change the rate or tax:
- Ad spend figure updates to the new calculation.
- ROAS, Per order, Per delivered and Per unit (ad costs) all recalculate.
- Net profit changes because ad spend changed.
- Net margin recalculates from the new net profit.
- The Ads and tracking › Facebook and Instagram › Ad spend tab in Reports also updates (if accessible).
The change applies on the next refresh. Existing data is not re-read from Meta; the calculation just changes. So if you set a wrong rate and then fix it, old periods update immediately.
Defaults when nothing is saved
Omnikyo uses these defaults when you have not saved any settings yet:
- Ad account currency: US dollar
- Dollar rate: 123 taka per dollar
- Add tax to ad spend: on (enabled)
- Tax rate: 12% (when not explicitly saved; the screen pre-fills 15%, but 12% is the fallback)
These are not your real costs. Change them to your actual numbers.
Questions people ask
Why does ad spend change after I change the rate?
Because the Dashboard shows your ad spend converted to taka using the rate you set. Change the rate, and the conversion changes immediately (Meta's figures do not change, only how they are shown in taka).
Does the dollar rate affect the meta account itself?
No. The rate is only used on your Dashboard and Reports, to show cost in taka. Your actual Meta account and billing stay unchanged.
Can I have different rates per period?
No. The rate applies to all periods on the Dashboard and Reports. If Meta's actual rate changed month-to-month (your bank did different conversions), you can only use one average rate here.
What if I forget to set the tax rate?
The Dashboard uses 12% by default. So you will still get a figure, but it may not match your real cost. Check your settings and set the right rate.
