Ad spend and ROAS on the Dashboard

The Dashboard's Ad spend figure comes from your connected Meta (Facebook and Instagram) account. The dollar rate and tax settings convert it to taka and add costs so your profit is accurate.

Where to find it: Sidebar › Dashboard › Ad spend card and its slots (ROAS, Per order, Per delivered, Per unit) Who can do it: Only staff with the Ads and tracking settings permission can change the dollar rate and tax.

What is ad spend

Ad spend is what you paid Meta (Facebook and Instagram) for ads in the chosen date range. Omnikyo reads it from your connected Meta ad account every day.

When Meta is connected, the Dashboard shows your actual spend for that period. When Meta is not connected, it shows ৳0 (not an error; the dashboard works normally without ads). When Meta times out (does not respond within 8 seconds), the card shows Meta unavailable and ad figures read n/a.

How ad spend is converted to taka

Meta charges your ad account in a single currency: either US dollar or taka. The Dashboard converts dollar spend to taka using a rate you set in Settings.

Setting the dollar rate

  1. Open Settings (header, bottom left).
  2. Choose Ads and tracking, then Facebook and Instagram.
  3. Select the Ad spend tab.
  4. In How ad spend is counted, set Ad account currency to US dollar (if your Meta account uses dollars).
  5. Enter the Dollar rate — what one US dollar costs you, as your bank charges it (default 123 taka).

Save the change. The Dashboard recalculates on the next refresh. Use your actual rate from your bank or credit card statement, not the Google rate; Meta charges what your card issuer converts.

Adding tax

Many sellers pay VAT or other charges on ad payments. Set Add tax to ad spend to on, then enter the Tax rate (default 12% when not saved, or your own percentage). The Dashboard adds this to every ad spend figure.

Example: Meta charges you ৳10,000 for ads, but VAT adds ৳1,200 (12%), so your real cost is ৳11,200. Set the tax rate to 12% and the Dashboard shows ৳11,200, so profit is correct.

The tax setting also affects the Net profit card (subtracts more), so profit stays accurate.

What is ROAS

ROAS = Return on Ad Spend. It shows how much sales you got back for every ৳1 spent on ads.

ROASWhat it meansIs it good?
6xFor every ৳1 on ads, you got ৳6 in salesYes, profitable
3xFor every ৳1 on ads, you got ৳3 in salesMaybe (depends on your margin)
1xFor every ৳1 on ads, you got ৳1 in salesNo (you broke even on ads alone)
0.5xFor every ৳1 on ads, you got ৳0.50 in salesNo, you lost money

ROAS does not equal profit. A 6x ROAS sounds great, but if your product cost is high or you have other costs, your actual profit can be low. Per delivered (ad cost per order that reached the customer) is more useful: keep it below your profit per order, or the ads lose money.

When Meta is not connected

ROAS shows n/a (not available) because Omnikyo cannot read your ad spend. The Dashboard still works normally; everything else calculates with zero ad spend instead.

When Meta times out

If Meta does not respond within 8 seconds, Ad spend shows Meta unavailable and ROAS, Per order, Per delivered and Per unit all read n/a. Net profit also becomes n/a because it depends on ad spend. Try Refresh in a few seconds. Meta usually answers quickly on the next attempt.

Per-order and per-delivered costs

Per order and Per delivered show how much advertising cost per order. Per order = Ad spend ÷ Orders (what it cost in ads to get one order, whether delivered or not). Per delivered = Ad spend ÷ Delivered orders (what it cost in ads for an order that actually reached and was paid by the customer).

This is critical: if Per delivered is higher than your profit per order, your ads lose money. Keep it lower.

Example: You spent ৳6,000 on ads, got 20 orders, and 15 reached the customer.

  • Per order = 6,000 ÷ 20 = ৳300
  • Per delivered = 6,000 ÷ 15 = ৳400

If your profit per order is ৳500, then ৳400 in ad costs is still profitable. But if your profit is ৳350, the ৳400 ad cost loses money.

Settings effect on Reports

The dollar rate and tax settings apply to the Dashboard and the Reports pages. If you change them, both update on the next refresh. The figures stay consistent across the two areas.
