Where to find it: Go to omnikyo.com/download on your phone, or search "Omnikyo Android" in a search engine.
Who can do it: Anyone with Android 8 or newer can install the app.
Install in four steps
-
Download. Open omnikyo.com/download on your Android phone, or tap the Download for Android button. The file
Omnikyo.apksaves to your phone (often shown in a notification at the top). -
Open it. Tap the notification, or open Files or Downloads and tap Omnikyo.apk. If your phone asks "Do you want to allow this app to install?", tap Allow or Install.
-
Install. On the install screen, tap Install. Once the progress bar finishes, tap Open.
-
Sign in. The app opens to the sign-in screen. Log in with your email and password, or tap Continue with Google. Follow any extra steps (phone number, two-step code), and the dashboard opens.
The app is now on your phone. Tap the Omnikyo icon on your home screen to open it anytime.
If your phone asks to allow installation
When you open the APK, Android may show a dialog saying your browser does not have permission to install apps. This is normal — it is a security check.
- Tap Allow or Settings.
- On the settings page, find Install unknown apps or Allow from this source, and turn the switch On.
- Go back and tap the APK again.
- Tap Install, then Open.
Good to know: Different Android versions and manufacturers show slightly different text. The idea is the same: you are allowing the browser to install an app that does not come from the Play Store.
If the app is too old (update required)
When you open the app, it checks the version. If you have an old version, a full-screen message appears:
- Heading: "A better Omnikyo is ready."
- Text: "Version X is required to continue using the app."
- Button: "Update now" (or "Allow install, then tap Update now" if Android needs permission).
If the button says "Allow install, then tap Update now":
- Tap it and you will be sent to Android settings.
- Find Install unknown apps or Allow from this source for the browser, and turn it On.
- Go back to the app and tap Update now again.
If the button just says "Downloading update...":
- Wait for the download to finish. Android will ask you to confirm the install.
- On the install screen, tap Install, then Open.
You cannot use the app until the update is done.
Careful: Always update when the app asks. You will not be able to sign in or use the dashboard until you do.
Questions people ask
Can I get the app from the Play Store?
The app is not on the Play Store — you download it directly as an APK. This lets us release updates without waiting for Google's approval.
What happens when I open the app?
The app loads the live Omnikyo dashboard from omnikyo.com. It is the same dashboard you see on your computer, but sized for your phone.

The app needs the internet to work. If you go offline, you see "You're offline" and cannot use it until you reconnect.
Does the app work on Android tablets?

Can I use the app on an iPhone or iPad?
An iOS app is coming soon. For now, open omnikyo.com in Safari and add it to your home screen.
