Delete a location

A location can be permanently removed only if it is not the default, is not the last location in your business, and holds no stock.

Before you start

Deleting a location is permanent and cannot be undone. A location can be deleted only if:

  • It is not the default location for your business.
  • It is not the last remaining location.
  • It holds no stock at that location (On hand and Reserved are both zero).

If your location meets any of these conditions, you will see a message explaining why it cannot be deleted. To delete the location, you must first transfer or adjust its stock out.

Delete a location

  1. Open Settings and select Locations.
  2. Find the location you want to delete and select the delete button (red trash icon on the right).
  3. A confirm message appears: Delete location? with the location's name. Read the message to check which rules apply.
  4. Select Delete.

The location is permanently removed and no longer appears in your stock list or order form.

When you cannot delete a location

Cannot delete the default location. Set another default first.

Your business always has one default location. To delete the current default, first set a different location as default by selecting Set as default on that location.

A business must keep at least one location.

Your business must have at least one location to track stock. If this is your only location, create a new location first, then delete this one.

This location still has stock. Transfer it out before deleting.

This location has stock reserved for open orders or stock on hand. To delete it:

  1. Open Inventory and select this location from the filters.
  2. For each product with stock, select Adjust and reduce the quantity to zero, or select Transfer to move the stock to another location.
  3. Repeat until this location shows zero stock for all products.
  4. Return to Settings › Locations and delete the location.

Questions people ask

Can I delete a location if I deactivate it first?

No. Whether a location is active or inactive does not affect whether it can be deleted. The same rules apply: not default, not last, and no stock.

What happens to orders that used this location?

Orders already created keep their history; they show the location they were fulfilled from. Deleting a location does not change past orders. New orders will use a different location according to your channel routing rules.

Can I recover a deleted location?

No. Once deleted, the location cannot be recovered. If you need a similar location, create a new one with the same details.
