Edit or deactivate a location

Change a location's name, contact details, channels and priority. Deactivate it to hide it from orders without losing its stock records. Delete it when you no longer need it.

Where to find it: Sidebar › Settings › Locations › select the location you want to change › pencil icon to edit, or trash icon to delete. Who can do it: Anyone with the Locations permission in Settings.

Edit a location

1. Go to Settings and open Locations.
2. Find the location in the list.
3. Click the pencil icon (edit).
4. Change any of these:
   • Name: The label that appears in the Inventory page, on orders and in routing settings.
   • Code: A reference code (usually short like "WH-02").
   • Type: Warehouse, Outlet or Virtual — a label only.
   • Address, City, Phone: Contact details.
   • Fulfilment channels: Which sales channels (Online, POS, Shopify, Manual) can draw stock from this location.
   • Fulfilment priority: The rank order when multiple locations serve a channel.
5. Select Save changes.

The location updates immediately. Orders and Inventory views reflect the change right away.

Deactivate a location temporarily

When you close a warehouse for renovations or want to stop orders from using a location's stock without erasing its records:

1. Open the location to edit.
2. Turn off the Active switch.
3. Select Save changes.

An inactive location:

• Disappears from the Inventory page location switcher.
• Is not offered in the Fulfil from selector on orders.
• Is not shown in the bulk editor location columns.
• Still holds all its stock records and history.
• Reappears in all pickers if you turn Active back on.

Delete a location

You can only delete a location that:

• Is not the default location. Set another location as default first if this one is.
• Holds no stock. Transfer all on-hand and reserved units to another location before deleting.
• Is not the last location. Every business must have at least one.

To delete:

1. Go to Settings and open Locations.
2. Find the location.
3. Click the trash icon (delete).
4. Confirm Delete location? with the message "This will permanently remove '[name]'."
5. Select Delete.

The location is removed. If it once held orders or stock history, those records stay in the order and inventory logs but the location itself is gone.

Careful: Deleting a location cannot be undone. Ensure you have transferred its stock out before you delete.

Questions people ask

What happens to orders from a deleted location?

The order records stay, but the location name is gone. If you need to track where orders came from, move those orders to another location before deleting.

Can I make an inactive location active again?

Yes. Edit the location and turn Active back on.

If I deactivate the default location, what happens?

An inactive default is unusual but allowed. It stops appearing in location pickers but remains the final fallback if an order cannot be routed elsewhere. Set another location as default first if you plan to deactivate it.

Why can't I delete a location with stock?

The system prevents you from losing stock data. Transfer the units to another location first, then delete.
