Take an in-person (POS) sale

Switch to POS mode for a quick cash sale: scan or search products, collect payment on the spot, and mark the order complete in seconds.

Where to find it: Header › New Order › POS button (toggle at the top of the form)

Who can do it: Anyone with the orders.create permission.

Before you start

Open New Order from the header or the Orders page. At the top of the form, you will see an Order button and a POS button (with a lightning bolt). Click POS to switch to POS mode.

In POS mode: shipping is zero, customer is optional (use walk-in), the form is simplified, and the sale completes immediately as Delivered instead of staying in Confirmed.

The Products section stays the same. You can:

  • Scan a barcode if you have a barcode scanner — it types the SKU and the app finds the product.
  • Search by typing a product name, variant, or SKU.
  • Tap a product to add it, or use the quantity stepper to add multiple at once.

As you add products, the total updates instantly.

Customer (optional)

For a walk-in customer with no record:

  • Leave the Phone and Full name fields empty.
  • The app will record the sale as "Walk-in Customer" with phone "WALKIN".

If the customer has a phone number and you want to record future sales to them:

  • Type their phone (e.g. 01712345678).
  • Type their name.
  • City is not needed for a walk-in.

Collect payment

At the bottom, a Payment section shows. Choose the method:

  • Cash — customer pays in cash.
  • Bkash — customer pays via bKash.
  • Nagad — customer pays via Nagad.
  • Card — customer pays by card.

Below Payment, a field shows where you enter the amount the customer gives you. A Change or Remaining row updates in real time:

  • If you enter an amount less than the total, it says "Remaining" (how much more you need).
  • If you enter an amount greater than or equal to the total, it says "Change" (how much to give back).

The Complete sale button stays disabled until the tendered amount is >= the total.

Examples

TotalTenderShows
500400Remaining 100 (not enough)
500500Change 0 (exact)
500550Change 50 (overpaid)
5001000Change 500 (overpaid)

Notes (optional)

You can add an Internal note (for your team), but on POS the Courier note tab is hidden (not needed for a walk-in).

Complete the sale

Once you have entered enough tender, click Complete sale. The app:

  1. Creates the order with the payment method you chose (mapped to COD, Bkash, Nagad, or Bank on the backend).
  2. Records the sale as Delivered immediately (no shipping step).
  3. Marks inventory as sold.
  4. Shows "Sale Completed!" and clears the form so you are ready for the next customer.

If something is wrong, a toast appears: "Payment Incomplete" (if tender is less than total), "Customer Details Incomplete" (if you left both phone and name empty — fill at least one, or clear both for walk-in), or an error message.

Remembering your location choice

If you have multiple locations (warehouse and shop), POS remembers which location you last selected. The next time you open POS, that location is pre-selected. This is stored on your device only — changing devices resets it to the default location.

Questions people ask

Can I use POS if I don't have a barcode scanner?

Yes. You can type the product name to search. Scanning is faster, but typing works fine.

What if I make a mistake and enter the wrong products?

The form clears after each sale, so you start fresh. If you completed a sale by mistake, contact support — they can delete it or edit it.

Can I save a POS sale as "Confirmed" instead of completing it immediately?

No. POS always completes as Delivered right away. If you need to save an order without payment or shipping, switch to Order mode instead of POS.

What is the difference between POS mode and Order mode?

Order mode creates orders in Confirmed status — they need packing, shipping, and delivery. POS mode creates orders in Delivered status immediately — good for in-person cash sales where the customer takes the item on the spot. POS has no shipping fee, customer is optional, and payment is collected right there.

What payment method should I use for cash sales?

Use Cash. The app records it as COD (cash on delivery) internally, but you are collecting on the spot, not later.
