Dashboard and mobile app problems
Fix common problems on the Dashboard and Android app, from access errors to offline messages and app updates.
"Access Denied" toast appears
What you see: A toast message reads "Access Denied" and you stay on the same page, or you are sent to the sign-in screen.
Why it happens: You do not have permission to access a page, or your account has been downgraded to read-only (usually because of billing).
How to fix it:
- Check your sidebar. If the page you want is not listed, you do not have permission for it. Ask the business owner to go to Settings › Team › your name › Edit access to give you that permission.
- If you see a yellow "Account Read-Only:" banner at the top of the page, your account is in read-only mode. You can view data but not make changes. This usually happens when the business is behind on billing. Ask the owner to check Settings › Billing and update the payment method.
- If a page did appear in the sidebar before and now does not, the owner may have removed your access. Ask the owner to check your permissions.
Page is missing from the sidebar
What you see: A page you need (Orders, Products, Reports, etc.) is not in the sidebar.
Your role does not have permission for that page, or a platform feature switch has hidden it (Beta or Soon pages).
How to fix it:
- Ask the business owner to go to Settings › Team › your name › Edit access and give you the permission you need.
- Check the page description in Sidebar menu and who can see what to see what permission it needs.
- Some pages are marked Beta or Soon and are only visible if that feature is turned on. Ask the owner if these can be enabled.
"Something went wrong" error on a page
What you see: A card or page shows "Something went wrong" with a message like "This section failed to load. The rest of the dashboard is still available." and a Try again button.
The page or a part of the page could not load data. This is usually temporary (network glitch, server timeout).
How to fix it:
- Tap Try again.
- If it still fails, wait a minute and reload the page (press F5 or Ctrl+R on Windows/Linux, or Cmd+R on Mac).
- Check your internet connection. If you are on a phone, switch to Wi-Fi.
- If one specific page always fails but others work, email [email protected] with the page name.
Sidebar is collapsed and will not expand
What you see: The sidebar is showing only icons. You want to see the full menu.
You collapsed it by pressing Ctrl+B on Windows/Linux or Cmd+B on Mac, or by tapping the menu button.
How to fix it:
- Press Ctrl+B (or Cmd+B on Mac) to toggle it back, or tap the menu button in the header.
- On a phone, tap the menu button to open the sidebar drawer.
Good to know: The sidebar remembers whether it is collapsed, but only while you are using that browser tab. When you reload the page, it opens expanded.
"Read-Only" banner appears at the top
What you see: A yellow banner says "Account Read-Only: …" with a reason.
Your account is in read-only mode, usually because of billing. You can view everything but cannot make changes (create orders, edit products, etc.).
How to fix it:
- Ask the business owner to go to Settings › Billing and update the payment method or resolve the billing issue.
- Read-only mode is usually temporary. Once billing is settled, the banner disappears.
Android app shows "You're offline"
What you see: A full-screen message reads "You're offline" with "Omnikyo needs an internet connection to keep your business live" and a Try again button.
The app lost internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data stopped).
How to fix it:
- Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
- Try again.
- If the message says "Still offline. Check Wi-Fi or mobile data." you are still not connected. Wait and try again.
The app needs an internet connection to work. There is no offline mode.
Android app shows "Update required"
What you see: A full-screen message says "Update required" with "A better Omnikyo is ready" and text about updating. A button reads "Update now".
The app's version is too old and must be updated before you can use it.
How to fix it:
- Tap Update now.
- The app downloads the update (this may take a minute depending on your connection).
- Android will show a security confirmation screen. Tap Install and then Open.
- You may need to allow the app to install updates in Android Settings first. Follow the screen's instructions.
Good to know: You are not forced to update immediately. The app checks for updates every time you open it. If you postpone, the warning will appear again the next time you sign in.
Tapping a notification opens a blank page
What you see: A notification for a new order arrives. You tap it and the app opens but shows a blank screen.
The notification was trying to open an order, but the app's navigation did not work correctly.
How to fix it:
- Tap the Omnikyo home button at the bottom (or the Kyo orb on a phone) to go to the dashboard.
- Open Orders from the sidebar and find the order.
- If this keeps happening, email [email protected].
No order notifications arrive on Android
What you see: You signed in to the Android app, allowed notifications, but no alerts appear when orders arrive.
Notification permission was not granted, the app was not opened after signing in, or there is a connection problem.
How to fix it:
- Make sure notification permission is On in Android Settings › Apps › Omnikyo › Notifications.
- The app must be opened at least once after you sign in for notifications to register. Close and re-open the app, then wait a few seconds.
- Check your internet connection.
- If you uninstalled and reinstalled the app, sign in again and allow notifications.
Notifications only arrive on Android. iPhone and iPad, and the browser version, do not get notifications.
"Your store could not be built" at the welcome stage
What you see: The welcome stage is building your store (the "Building your store" screen), and it fails with a red error box reading "Something went wrong while building your store. Please try again." or "Your store could not be built. Please try again."
The server had a temporary problem creating your store (rare). This can happen if the business name was unusual, or if there was a brief outage.
How to fix it:
- Tap Try again to retry. The build usually succeeds on retry.
- If it fails again, email [email protected] with your business name and we will fix it.
The welcome stage does not time out and you can retry as many times as needed.
