Manage product photos

You can upload, reorder and describe the photos of a product. The first photo is always the cover — the one that shows in your store and order forms.

Add photos: upload, library, or URL

You can add photos in three ways.

Upload files from your computer: Select Upload, choose one or more image files (jpeg, png, webp, gif, svg, or avif), or drag them directly onto the card. Each file must be 20 MB or smaller.

Pick from your library: Select Library to open your media collection. Search for existing photos, pick as many as you want in any order, then select Add n photos at the bottom to add them all. Photos you already use show a badge "Added".

Add from a link: Select the link icon to reveal a URL field. Paste a full web address starting with https:// or http://, then select Add. The button is disabled until a valid URL is entered.

A failed upload shows a toast naming the file and why it was rejected. Check that the file is a supported format and under 20 MB, then try again.

The first photo is the cover

The first photo in the order becomes the cover. It shows larger than the others in the grid (when there are more) and displays a Cover label. The cover appears in your store as the main product image, in order lists, and in customer tracking pages.

To make a different photo the cover, tap or click the photo's menu (⋯) and select Make cover. It moves to the first position. A new cover updates your store instantly.

Reorder photos

Drag a photo to a new place in the grid. On a phone, press and hold a photo for 180 milliseconds, then drag. Use the menu (⋯) to move a single step: Move earlier or Move later. You cannot move earlier from the first position or later from the last.

The order you set here is what customers see in your store.

Add and edit alt text

Alt text describes what the photo shows. It helps screen readers and search engines, and shows to customers if the image fails to load.

Select the photo's menu (⋯) and choose Add alt text or Edit alt text (if one exists). A modal appears with the photo on the left and a text field on the right. Type a short, plain description — up to 200 characters. A counter shows how many you have used. Select Save when done.

Examples:

  • "Maroon knit polo, front view"
  • "Pack of 3 cotton socks, white"
  • "Gold hoop earrings"

Leave alt text empty if the photo is purely decorative or the information is already in the product description.

Remove a photo

Select the photo's menu (⋯) and choose Remove. The photo disappears from the grid. At the bottom of the card, a strip appears saying "Photo removed" with an Undo button. You have 6 seconds to undo. After that, the strip clears and the photo is gone for good.

Careful: After 6 seconds, you cannot undo a removal unless you use your browser's back button immediately and do not refresh the page.

View alt text on a photo

If a photo has alt text, a small Alt badge appears in the bottom left corner of the photo tile. This shows you at a glance which photos have descriptions.

What happens when you save

When you save the product, all photos, their order, and their alt text are saved together. The cover photo is linked to the product; if you later change which photo is the cover, the old cover image is kept but no longer appears in your store.

When you cannot add photos

  • If your subscription is write-blocked, the Upload, Library and link buttons are hidden.
  • If the media library encounters an error, Library may show "Could not load complementary products" or be temporarily unavailable.
