Create a product
Create a new product by giving it a name, description, photos, price and stock. Decide whether it comes in one version (simple) or multiple versions (variants like Size and Colour). Save to add it to your catalog.
Where to find it: Sidebar › Products › All products › Add product button (top right)
Who can do it: Anyone with the products.create permission.
Before you start
- The product must have a Title (required). Everything else is optional for now.
- You need a price to make the product Active and sellable. A Draft product can be missing the price.
- If your account is write-blocked (past due), the Add product button shows an upgrade prompt.
- A new product starts as Draft by default. Change it to Active when it is ready to sell.
Create a simple product (one version)
- Open Products in the sidebar and tap Add product (top right).
- In the Title / Description card, type the product name in Title. This is required — you cannot save without it.
- In Description, type or paste a detailed description. Use plain text or bold, italics and links. Avoid code — keep it readable.
- In the Photos card, add images:
- Tap Upload and choose files from your device, or drag them into the card
- Or tap Library to pick from your media library
- Or paste an image URL with the link icon
- The first photo is the cover; drag to reorder
- In the Price and stock card:
- Price — enter the selling price in taka (৳)
- Compare-at price (optional) — if you want to show the original price crossed out
- Cost per item — what you paid (never shown to customers; helps calculate profit)
- Stock on hand — how many you currently have
- In the Organisation card, add optional details:
- Category — which category the product belongs to
- Vendor — the brand or maker
- Product type — the kind of item (e.g. "Clothing", "Electronics")
- Tags — keywords to help with filtering
- Tap Save or Create in the top right. A success toast says "Product created". The product appears in your list as Draft until you change it to Active.
Create a product with variants (options like Size or Colour)
Follow the steps above, but in the Options card:
- Choose Has options instead of One version. A form appears to add your first option.
- For Option name, choose from suggestions (Size, Color, Material, Style) or type a custom name.
- For Values, type each option value and press Enter or comma to add it. For example, for Size: S, M, L, XL. You can:
- Type individual values and press Enter
- Paste multiple values separated by commas
- Use a context menu with preset values (for Size: predefined sizes like S, M, L; for Colour: predefined colours)
- Click Add all to add all preset values at once
- Drag chips to reorder values. Click ✕ on a chip to remove it.
- To add a second and third option, click Add another option and repeat.
As soon as you add option values, the system creates one variant row for each combination. For example, Size (S, M, L) + Colour (Black, White) = 6 variants:
- Product - S / Black
- Product - S / White
- Product - M / Black
- Product - M / White
- Product - L / Black
- Product - L / White
Each variant is assigned a generated SKU and starts with the cover photo. You can set different prices, costs and stock for each variant.
-
In the Variant table, set each variant's:
- Price
- Compare at
- Cost
- Stock (or set it later after you create the product)
- SKU (auto-generated; edit it if you want a custom code)
- Photo (click the thumbnail to pick a variant-specific image from your library)
-
Save the product.
Fill in optional fields
You do not need to fill these before saving, but adding them helps:
- In the SEO section, add Page title (for search engine listings; max 70 characters) and Meta description (max 160 characters). If blank, your product title and description are used automatically.
- In the Shipping section, add Weight in kilograms. Used by couriers to calculate delivery fees.
- Custom fields appear only if you have created custom field definitions in the Catalog area.
Handle common errors
"Give the product a name." — You tried to save without a Title. Type a product name and try again.
"SKU "X" already exists. Please use a unique SKU." — The SKU you entered (or the auto-generated one) is already used by another product. Edit the SKU to make it unique.
"A product with the same URL slug already exists." — The automatically-generated page URL (made from the title) matches an existing product. Rename the product or edit the conflicting product's name.
Change your mind before saving
If you want to discard your changes:
- Click Discard in the top right
- A modal asks "Discard your changes?" with Keep editing and Discard buttons
- Confirm to close the editor without saving
If you leave the page (back arrow, sidebar click) without saving, the editor warns "Discard your changes?" — confirm to leave.
What happens when you save
- The product is created with the information you provided
- A success toast says "Product created" with the product name
- The editor closes and you return to the products list
- The new product appears at the top of the list as Draft (unless you changed it to Active)
- If adding photos failed, a toast says "Product created with warnings" but the product is saved; fix the photos by editing it
For products with variants, images, custom fields or stock, each part is saved in order. If a later step fails, the toast says "Save incomplete" and explains what went wrong.
Next steps
- Add more details — click the product row to open details, then Edit to revisit the editor
- Change to Active — in the editor, toggle Active to make the product sellable
- Add stock — if you saved without stock, set Stock on hand now
- Upload to store — the product is ready; your store will refresh within seconds and show the new product
Questions people ask
What is the difference between "One version" and "Has options"?
One version is for products sold only one way (one size, one colour, one style). Has options is for products that come in multiple choices (Size S/M/L, Colour Red/Blue, Material Cotton/Wool). With options, each combination is a separate variant with its own price and stock.
Can I change from one version to variants later?
Yes. Open the product, switch to Has options, add your options, and save. The system creates variants automatically.
Do I have to fill in the cost?
No. But adding it helps the system calculate your profit margin. If you leave it blank, profit calculations will not show a margin percentage.
What is the SKU?
SKU stands for Stock Keeping Unit — a unique code for the product (like POL-001 or SHI-BLUE-M). Customers never see it; it is for your own records and inventory tracking. The system auto-generates one from the product name, but you can edit it to match your own codes.
Can I add a product without photos?
Yes. The Photos section is optional. But products with photos tend to sell better. You can add photos later by editing the product.
When should I set the product to Active?
After you finish creating it, set the status to Active so customers can see and buy it. Until then, it is Draft and hidden from your store.
