Set up your store with Kyo
The first time you sign in as the owner, Omnikyo builds your store with you. Kyo guides you through five steps: you give your store a name, choose a category to set its look, and Kyo builds everything else.
Where to find it: After signing in for the first time, the welcome stage fills the screen. You see questions on the left and a preview of your store on the right (or on a phone, the store on top and questions below).
Who can do it: The business owner only. Team members sign in and go straight to the dashboard.
Step 1: Hello
Kyo dances and greets you. The heading says "Hi, I'm Kyo." and below it "I'll set up your online store with you. It takes about a minute."
Press Get started to move to the next step.
Step 2: Give your store a name
The heading asks "What's your store called?" and below it "It's also your web address. You can change it later."
- Type your store name in the field. The limit is 40 characters.
- As you type, a grey hint on the right shows how your address will look:
<name>.omnikyo.com. - Your name must be at least 2 characters after trimming spaces.
- Press Continue or press Enter when the name is ready.
Kyo says "What should I call it?" while you type, then "Great name." when you pause.
Your name becomes your store's web address. If your name is all Bangla letters or has characters that cannot be used in a web address, your address will be store- followed by six characters of your business ID instead.
Step 3: Choose your store's look and sample products
The heading asks "What do you sell?" and below it "I'll pick a look and add a few sample products."
Seven tiles let you choose a category:
- Clothing (Shirts, sarees, kurtis)
- Bags (Totes, backpacks)
- Beauty (Skincare, makeup)
- Food (Honey, snacks, spices)
- Gadgets (Audio, chargers, cases)
- Home (Decor, lighting)
- Something else (I'll set up a general store)
Hover or focus a tile to see a preview of your store with that category's colours and style. Click one to pick it.
When you click, the build starts at once. There is no confirmation step. A Back link above the tiles lets you go back and change your store name.
Kyo says "Pick the closest one."
Step 4: Building your store
Kyo builds four things in order:
- Choosing a theme
- Adding sample products
- Setting up checkout
- Publishing your store
Each one ticks off as it finishes. The whole build takes a few seconds. Do not close the page — the build needs the window to stay open.
If the build fails, a red box appears with an error message. The most common message is "Something went wrong while building your store." Press Try again to build again.
Step 5: Your store is live
When the build finishes, Kyo celebrates and the page shows "Live now" with your store name. A box shows your store address and two buttons:
- Copy copies the full address to your clipboard (the button changes to "Copied" for a moment).
- Open opens your store in a new tab so you can see it as your customers will.
The text below says "The sample products disappear as soon as you add your own. I'll show you the rest."
Press Let's set it up to close this screen and open your dashboard. Kyo's chat opens on the "Setting up your store" page with five next steps (add a product, connect a courier, etc.).
What was created for you
Your store:
- Gets the name you typed and a web address
<name>.omnikyo.com(or a fallbackstore-<id>if your name has no valid Latin letters). - Uses the field theme, which is the default Omnikyo look for all categories.
- Is published and live. People can visit your store now, but they see only sample products until you add your own.
- Gets three sample products for your category, each with 25 in stock. You can see them, delete them, or archive them. They disappear automatically the moment you create your first real product.
Your business:
- Is named from your store name.
- Has a monthly subscription on the active plan (billing topic).
- Is marked as set up.
The address cannot be changed after you create it (you can set up a custom domain later, but the omnikyo.com subdomain stays).
If the build fails
Press Try again to start the build again. It is safe to retry — if your store is already live and your business already has an address, it will not be created twice.
If it keeps failing, contact support with the error message.
On a phone
The layout is different: your store preview appears on top (smaller), and the questions slide up from below as a sheet. The experience is the same otherwise.
Questions people ask
Can I skip the welcome stage?
No. If you are the owner and your business is not set up yet, the welcome stage appears on every sign-in until you finish it. There is no skip button.
Can I change my store name later?
The web address is fixed at <name>.omnikyo.com and cannot be changed. But you can set up your own custom domain later in Settings → Online store (storefront topic). And you can change the business name in Settings → General.
Why are there sample products?
Omnikyo adds three sample products so you can see what your store looks like with products. They disappear as soon as you create your first real product. You can also delete or archive them sooner if you want.
What theme is my store using?
All categories use the field theme right now. The "I'll pick a look" line in Kyo's message is for future categories.
